Venison Sliders

With the Super Bowl coming up this weekend or you just need appetizers when you're hosting a crowd, these sliders are for you. Simple and easy, these sliders are a wild game take on a classic Football Sunday staple across the country. They’re even great left over! We added a Honey-BBQ glaze them because I’m a sucker for sweet-savory taste.

For this recipe we have two ingredient lists; One for the Sliders and One for the Honey-BBQ glaze. Lets start with the sliders.

Slider Ingredients:

  • 1+ lbs. of ground wild game (we used venison)

  • Hawaiian Rolls 12 worked for 1lb of meat (We prefer King’s Hawaiian)

  • Dill pickles slices or chips

  • Shredded cheese (We used mozzarella)

  • 1 Sweet Onion diced

  • 2 cloves Garlic minced

  • 1 stick Butter


  1. Season and form your ground into smash burger-sized patties, add them to a cast iron pan over medium-high heat and begin cooking them.

  2. While the patties are cooking add your diced onion to a pan with a knob of butter over medium heat. The goal here is to brown your onions before topping your patties (5-7 minutes)

  3. Next add your butter and garlic to a separate saucepan over medium heat. Melt the butter down until it forms a butter sauce. We will use this to top the slider buns.

  4. Finally we can begin assembling our sliders. Add your cooked patties to the buns, top with onions, cheese, and pickles. Cover with the top bun and brush on or drizzle with your butter sauce.

  5. Lastly place the sliders onto a baking sheet and put the sliders into the oven at 400℉ allowing the cheese to melt and the tops of the buns to turn golden brown, somewhere around 3 minutes.

  6. Lastly serve end enjoy!

Honey- BBQ glaze

  • 1 cup Ketchup

  • ½ cup Brown Sugar

  • ¼ cup Apple Cider Vinegar

  • 2 Tbsp. Honey

  • Salt to taste

  • Pepper to taste

  • 1 tsp Smoked Paprika

  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder

  • 1 tsp Onion Powder


  1. Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium heat

  2. Bring to a boil then immediately reduce heat to to a low simmer for 15 minutes

  3. Take sauce off of heat and allow it to cool completely.

  4. Finally serve it up! We drizzled the sauce on the sliders before topping them. It is also great for dipping.
